What is your area of legal expertise?
Being a solicitor for 20 years has given me great breadth of experience but I focus now on complex property matters and Wills and Estate Plans.
Most common mistake in Wills?
Don’t assume that your loved ones will know and accept your wishes after you die. I have seen too much unnecessary conflict within families caused by unclear or incomplete Estate Plans. It is worth spending the time and money to get your Will right, to reflect your wishes and remove ambiguity.
What are the issues of the day with respect to Estate Planning?
There is now so much diversity in the structures of families, and the law has to keep up. Ex-spouses, current spouses, half-siblings, step-children….we need to help our clients figure out how to be fair in sometimes quite complex situations.
